• responsibilities and resources;
• tools and repositories;
• the identification of the configuration items and their naming conventions;
• access rights;
• the history of configuration items and baselines including
  • required/optional baselines,
  • naming conventions,
  • methods for branching, merging and building baselines and
  • procedures for their release/approval.

NOTE 1: The configuration management strategy typically supports the handling of product/software variants which may be caused by different sets of calibration parameters or by other causes.
